Boiled Ham

Delicious ham for sandwiches and salads

Materials

  • 3 llbs Gammon joint You can cook any size of joint, just allow 15 minutes per lb (pound)
  • 1 litre fresh orange juice
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1/2 onion chopped into quarters
  • 1 peeled and chopped carrot
  • 3 cloves

Instructions

  • Place the gammon joint into a large saucepan.
  • Pour in the orange juice, add the onion, carrot, bay leaves and cloves.
  • Bring the pan to the boil, then simmer gently for 45 minutes (remember allow 15 minutes per pound)
  • Remove from the pan carefully and place on a plate. The ham can be served hot, or leave to cool completely and serve sliced on a sandwich or in a salad.
