Bring a pan of water to the boil & cook the broccoli until tender.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in the frying pan and add the garlic, cook for 1 minute. Be careful, it can burn very easily.
Then, add the tin of chopped tomatoes and bring to a very gentle simmer to allow the tomatoes to reduce (this stops them being very watery)
Once the broccoli is cooked, remove with a slotted spoon and place straight into the tomato mix.
Then re-use the broccoli water to cook your pasta.
When the pasta is cooked, drain and carefully stir into your tomato mixture. If your tomato is slightly dry, add a drop of water.
Serve immediately with a grating of cheese (cheddar, parmesan etc)
